The sisterhood in Islam can't be found anywhere else. The most beautiful thing is when you find a sister in a friend. The beautiful thing about Islam is that it encourages us to check up and look out for each other. Islam teaches us to wish for our brother what we wish for ourselves. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“None of you truly believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.” Bukhārī (no. 13) and Muslim (no. 45)**

The rights your muslim brother and sister have over you and vice versa:

  1. Respecting them and their personality [7]
  2. Getting material support in the time of need [8]
  3. Advising them when they need your advice [9]
  4. Forgiving their shortcomings [10]
  5. Concealing their lapses and faults from others [11]
  6. Visiting them when they are sick [12]
  7. Participating in their funeral when they die[13]

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “A man is upon the deen of his best friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.”

  1. It is so important to have precious righteous company- it’s so precious that it’s actually so rare to find. Your surroundings and your company have a huge impact on how and who you are as a Muslim, how your thoughts are, how your speech is, and how your mannerisms are. So choose very wisely. Choose your companions wisely for indeed you are choosing the front row of your Janazah (funeral). Think about that again and ponder upon that. Think about the friends you have now. Are those the type of friends that will be at your Janazah?
  2. People think it's good to be friends with everyone. It's not. Have acquaintances sure, be kind to people, but remember the Hadith of Nabi ﷺ "look to whom you befriend because you are upon the religion of your friend." او كما قال
